‍GENERATIONAL RESTORATION

“God, either help me or kill me. Because I can’t do this anymore.”

Victor had no belief in God. But he was so desperate for a way out of life on the streets that he found himself crying out in prayer. Early exposure to drugs, an absent father, and misguided decisions had swept Victor into a cycle of homelessness and addiction.

“My father would disappear on payday and come back on Monday with no money,” he says. Victor was separated from his family, lost, and hopeless. “I was starving, hungry, cold, and wet. I was fighting for my life every day. Eventually, I was just waiting to die.”

AN UNEXPECTED ANSWER

The day after he cried out to God, Victor found himself behind bars. Victor didn’t see jail as an answer to prayer right away. But he soon realized it was a step toward a new life. From jail, he went straight to CityTeam — and it was the best choice Victor ever made.

“I had been homeless for so long I had forgotten what it was like to sleep on a bed and take hot showers,” he says. But after a couple of weeks, Victor’s perspective and heart began to change.

FROM SURVIVAL ON THE STREETS TO LASTING STABILITY

If one looked at Victor, they won’t see a history of drug addiction or felonies. They would see a man with a thriving career, beautiful family, and restored life. Victor is currently excelling at his job as a superintendent for a construction company.

A NEW FAMILY STORY

“A couple years after I graduated from CityTeam, my dad called me,” recalls Victor. “He had gotten a DUI, lost his car, and lost his house. I offered him help to get into the program at CityTeam.”

Years ago, when Victor was at rock bottom, he had no hope for restoration, let alone with his dad. Now, his entire family has experienced the blessing of God’s healing love — and your generosity.

“I’m grateful to be a dad, and I’m grateful for my family,” says Victor. “Being a dad to my son is the most important thing. I finally see myself as a good father, a good partner, and a good son.”
