Life Stories: Doug Higham

The year was 2002.  I had now completed the recovery program at CityTeam Oakland and was healed from my addictions.  Not knowing what my next move would be, I laid my fleece before God and promised to serve Him in whatever capacity He chose to use me.  Little did I know that he would keep me right there at CityTeam Oakland… as their new Recovery Program Director.  God had given me a passion to help other addicts, because I truly understood them.

I faithfully served Him in Oakland until just this past August when the City Director came to me and asked if I would take the position of Recovery Director in Seattle.  Wow!  That was a big move… a new job, a new city, new faces – but same need!  My answer was a resounding “Yes!”

Since taking the position in September, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a great group of men who are ready and adamant about reclaiming their lives.  I see God working through them to free them from their addictions and I’m honored to play a small role in their recovery.

My desire here at CityTeam Seattle is to network with businesses and individuals who’d like to help be a catalyst for change in these men’s lives.  Christian men are needed to assist our staff in mentoring our clients and graduates in the area of growing to be Godly, forward-focused men of Christ.  If you desire to perhaps step outside of your comfort zone a little, but be blessed in a big way, please stop by the mission or call me.  I’d love to share my heart with you regarding the work the Lord is doing here at this mission.  I know He has a plan and I am excited to be a part of His plan!

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20
