Summertime at Cityteam Philadelphia
A message from Philadelphia City Director, Kwinn Tucker
Summer is here! If you are like me, the change in weather invites us to squeeze as much summer fun as possible into an already packed schedule. And along with family commitments, work, and enjoying the sun I'm hoping that you will join us at Cityteam as we begin our Summer of Compassion, an easy way to make a difference for our neighbors in need.
Over and over in the Bible we see Jesus miraculously change people's lives. His compassion runs so deep that when he sees someone hurting, he simply must respond. Seeing people hungry, he will pause from teaching, taking time to feed thousands with only a few fish and a little bread. Another time, on his way to heal Jairus' dying daughter, he encounters the bleeding woman. Even after she is healed, just by touching him, we see Jesus stop, turn to her, and demonstrate his love by speaking directly with her. Even in a parable like the Good Samaritan, he praises a man who paused on his journey to minister to someone in dire need.
Jesus' example is an incredible challenge to us - every moment and every interaction is an opportunity to show compassion, kindness, and love to our neighbors. Cityteam's 2013 Summer of Compassion is one easy way to do just that. I'm hoping you will consider participating in one (or all!) of the following collection opportunities this summer. Together, we can make a difference in our community!
June - Hygeine Items for our Shelter Guests
July - School Supplies for Children Starting Back to School
August - Canned Food for Hungry Families

May God bless you!
