CityTeam Camp MayMac is a beautiful 178-acre camp located
75 miles south of San Francisco, California and near
the beach town of Santa Cruz. Over the last 30 years,
disadvantaged at-risk kids from multi-ethnic backgrounds
have come to camp to experience God's grace through the
beauty of God's creation, the fun of recreation, the
unconditional love of camp staff, and the light of God's
Word. Most of the campers come from non-churched homes
in economically depressed, high crime and drug areas
from the surrounding Bay Area cities.
For many of these elementary and junior high school
kids - this will be a full week of first time experiences:
first time camping, first trip to the beach, first
time playing in a swimming pool, first time hiking
in the mountains, first time to receive three meals
a day, first time to sing worship songs, first time
to hear God's Word, and first time to build a relationship
with a mentor and receive encouragement. More importantly
- first time to see how Christians live on a daily
basis. An experience they will never forget. In this
environment real life change can take place forever
and a fresh hope for the future can take root.
"For
I know the plans I have for you" declares the
Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah
29:11)
Is God calling you to Camp MayMac to be an important
part of young child's life? We're seeking adults (minimum
eighteen years of age) in good physical condition who
desire to follow Jesus in serving disadvantaged youth.
Each staff person must be willing to sacrifice personal
desires to serve others and yet express his/her talents
with boldness and humility. Most staff positions require
a two-month commitment beginning in June and ending
in August. There are also one-week individual/group
volunteer opportunities available. The one-week group
volunteer opportunities are called SWATT
Teams.
This summer at Camp MayMac, you personally will feel
closer to God - doing his work. Rarely does one leave
without having a memorable summer adventure and a lifelong
impact - on yours and a child's life forever.
